  • HITA 2005 - June 19th and 20th, Millennium Biltmore, Los Angeles

Although the excitement of both HITA 2004 and HITEC are still relatively fresh in our minds, this is perhaps a good time to get next year's dates in the diary. Once again the annual HITA conference will align with HITEC and the dates are HITA 05 - June 19th and 20th; HITEC June 20th - 23rd and the location is Los Angeles! Much more information will be appearing here soon on HITA 05 and in the meantime updates on HITEC 2005 can be obtained through HFTP

The conference hotel may be booked at preferential rates through the HITEC housing bureau and you may access this directly by clicking this link.

  • HITA 2004

Once again our annual conference went back-to-back with HITEC and this time Dallas was our host city. With Galen Collins masterminding the program and Peter O'Connor in the research papers chair - things were already in good shape! From industry we had Paul Manley (Triprewards) providing an engaging keynote followed by Tim Foster (NAU) outlining a unique collaboration with American Express in online learning. These speakers were followed by a high level telecommunication panel including Derek Wood (Derek Wood Associates), Kirsten Limbacher (Inter Continental Hotel Group) and Clive Taylor (Extended Stay) and industry events being brought to a challenging conclusion by new HFTP Hall of Fame inductee Ted Horner (E. Horner and Associates Pty Ltd) who focused on the technological shortcomings of today's hotel environment and posed some hard questions for future work. Following the industry presentations there was a full day of excellent research presentations encompassing a wide range of refereed work. To round the conference off nicely the first HITA fellow, Professor Richard Moore of Cornell University was inaugurated and we were treated to some excellent anecdotes and reminiscences from those who had known Dick over the years at Cornell. The Dinner also provided the opportunity for presentation of the Best Research Paper Award this year going to Woody Kim, University of Kentucky and Sunny Ham , Oklahoma State University for their work on The Impact of Information Technology Implementation on Service Quality in the Hotel Industry. HITA would like to thank Gold Sponsors Radiant Systems for their support of HITA 04 and in particular the inaugural Fellows Dinner.
